“ONE Great Community Salutes quentin Williamson
“ONE Great Community Salutes” is a new Chamber program designed to recognize people who do positive things to improve the quality of life in our community.
This month’s recipient of the Chamber of Commerce ONE Great Community Salute is Quentin Williamson.
Williamson has recently retired from the Wayne County Soil and Water District after 24 years as technician for the organization.
Touted as one of Indiana’s biggest friends of soil conservation, Quentin has been involved in no-till farming for a very long time. He played a substantial role in moving Wayne County to one of the highest rates of no tilling in the state. He’s said to be responsible for making Wayne County’s soil conservation gatherings some of the largest in the state with his personal phone calls and friendly nature.
Quentin also led tours around the state and Midwest to give area farmers a chance to see other conservation projects first hand. We’re told he even invited Buckeye farmers to go along.
When asked about his favorite part of the work he’s been involved in for nearly a quarter of a century, Williamson’s answer is quick…THE PEOPLE…He says he loves to work with people of all ages and he’s never met a person he didn’t like. Everything has been so positive.
For his straight talk, endless fellowship, love of the land and the people who farm it, Quentin Williamson is another of Wayne County’s natural resources and is honored this month with the Richmond-Wayne County Chamber of Commerce ONE Great Community Salute!
The Chamber plans to select an award recipient monthly and will be honoring the recipients in different ways throughout the month. The Chamber is asking for nominations from the community.
Nomination forms are available at the Chamber Office, local radio stations, the Palladium Item and on line at www.rwchamber.org.
