“ONE Great Community Salutes bob white
Award presented at Northeastern High School, Tuesday, May 29 at 12:30 p.m.
“ONE Great Community Salutes” is a Chamber program designed to recognize people who do positive things to improve the quality of life in our community.
The next recipient of the Chamber of Commerce ONE Great Community Salute is Bob White, Northeastern Wayne Schools bus driver. Bob began driving a school bus for Whitewater School in August of 1952.
In all those years, Bob has earned every white hair. He has gently carried nervous children into school on their first day. He expected order, and assigned seats when necessary. Bob is also pretty famous for special treats at Christmas time.
There’s no way to count the number of athletes and musicians that Bob has taken to games and competitions. Every coach and band director have benefited from his words of wisdom and generosity.
As former band director, Tim Love, put it, “Every child feels loved when they step in the bus door of Bob’s bus and they feel loved as they get off the bus.”
Bob and his family have been active members of the school and farming community for well over 50 years. Bob and his wife raised five children on a farm north of Whitewater.
It would be impossible to count the number of lives that Bob White has touched over the years. It’s for all those lives and the man that he is that Bob deserves this ONE Great Community Salute!
The Chamber plans to select an award recipient monthly and will be honoring the recipients in different ways throughout the month. The Chamber is asking for nominations from the community.
