How Do I Get Involved?

Chamber Committees!

Our Chamber has action committees that were created to represent major areas of interests for the business community.  There are also various opportunities to become involved with special event committees throughout the year.

Business Education Committee
serves as a think tank, planning table, and a support vehicle for implementation of the Chamber's Business Education Liaison Program. The Program includes, but is not limited to, activites related to business-education partnerships such as the Chamber's Information and Referral Service, Fall Career Days, forums and networking events intended to bring business and education together. Helps direct the Workforce-Education Information Resource and Referral Service.  Please contact Suzanne Derengowski, Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce, 765-962-1511 or suzanne@wcareachamber.org with any questions, ideas, comments or general interest.  Meets monthly.

Grow Local, Buy Local Committee
Ft. Wayne Ave.Promotes agriculture as a major segment of the local economy, leads community education efforts regarding agribusiness and economic development, unites and networks groups and activities to address issues important to agriculture, and serves the agribusiness community by recognizing outstanding achievements.   The Grow Local, Buy Local purpose is to promote Chamber members (local retail businesses, suppliers, and service providers) and to educate the general public about the economic benefits of shopping and buying locally.  Please contact Suzanne Derengowski, Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce, 765-962-1511 or suzanne@wcareachamber.org with any questions, ideas, comments or general interest.  Meets monthly.

Awards, Celebrations, & Events (ACEs)
The Awards, Celebrations, & Events Committee's purpose is to serve as ambassadors of the chamber celebrating member events, grand openings, ribbon cuttings, chamber network nights, and to assist the chamber staff in carrying out two major fundraisers each year: the annual chamber dinner and the spring golf outing.  The ACE's other purpose is to provide leadership and service in the area of beautification, cleanliness, and issues related thereto. The Committee receives nominations and decides awards to businesses that contribute to the physical beauty and cleanliness of our community. The Committee assists the chamber staff with the Spring Clean-Up Event, the Adopt-a-Street Program, and in planning and carrying out the annual Community Improvement Awards Luncheon. Please contact Amy Holthouse, Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce, 765-962-1511, or amy@wcareachamber.org with any questions, ideas, comments or general interest.  Meets monthly.

Issues & Advocacy Committee
is a concentrated effort by the Chamber utilizing trained volunteers supported by Chamber and EDC staff to outreach, research, and respond to the broad range of issues affecting the business community. The Issues & Advocacy Committee meets the challenges of keeping individual business research data confidential and at the same time addressing issues and directing appropriate material to other Chamber committees, policy makers and government officials to support existing businnesses. Please contact Suzanne Derengowski, Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce, 765-962-1511, or suzanne@wcareachamber.org with any questions, ideas, comments or general interest.  Meets monthly.
